Owning a car is one of the biggest ongoing costs most people carry. We build free tools and straight answers so every driver can make those decisions with real numbers.
What we do
4Wheels covers the whole life of a car: choosing and pricing it, financing or leasing it, insuring it, maintaining it, and selling or shipping it at the end. We publish free calculators that run in your browser, guides written in plain English, and a curated library of how-to videos. When you're ready for real quotes, our free matching service passes your request to lenders, insurers, buyers, carriers or warranty providers that serve your area.
How we make money
We think you should know exactly how a free site pays its bills:
- Advertising. Display ads are served by Google AdSense. Advertisers don't choose or influence our content.
- Referral fees. When you ask to be matched, partners who receive your request may pay us. This never changes what our calculators show.
- Sponsorships. Brands can sponsor a tool, a guide hub, the newsletter or a contest month. Sponsored placements are labelled.
- Reader support. Contributions fund operations, contest prizes, hiring and promotion.
Editorial standards
- Primary sources first. We check facts against government agencies and regulators such as NHTSA, the EPA, the CFPB, the FTC and state or provincial authorities, and link to them.
- Show the maths. Every calculator explains its formula and assumptions on the page, and worked examples in guides are computed, not estimated.
- Independence. Partners, sponsors and advertisers do not review, edit or approve our guides.
- Plain language. No jargon without explanation, no clickbait, no fear tactics.
- Updates and corrections. Guides carry the date they were last reviewed. If you spot an error, tell us and we'll fix it and note the change.
- Not advice. Our content is general information. For decisions about your finances, legal position or a specific vehicle, talk to a licensed professional.

4Wheels is run by a small, remote team of writers, analysts and creators, supported by certified technicians who review maintenance content. We're hiring.
